Saturday 13th – Sunday 14th June:
The Buckler’s Hard Wartime Weekend

Come to the beautiful Buckler’s Hard village to see talks, exhibitions, the Portsmouth Model Boat display team, vehicles and learn more about the amazing story of the area in land, sea and sky in defence of our nation in WW2. You can also step aboard HMS Medusa, a WW2 Harbour Defence Motor Launch, moored on the river for the weekend. Local airfields, the requisition of the whole of the Beaulieu River by the Royal Navy, the Secret Operations Executive’s training school, the D-Day build up and all those who served and the impact on the people who lived here.

Saturday 20th June:
Traditional Ship and Boatbuilding Craft Day

See real traditional wooden ship and boatbuilding crafts demonstrated in the historic 18thc shipbuilding village of Buckler’s Hard. Historic sailmaker, rope craft, blacksmith, shipwrights, sawyers, tool specialists and more. Come and learn how to make a ‘treenail’ or use a Ships Capstan, how ships were built and the materials used.

10am – 5pm. FREE event.
